3 precinct commanders reshuffled
By Ruby P. Silubrico

THREE commanders in the Iloilo City police were reshuffled.

Senior Superintendent Norlito Bautista, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director, Monday confirmed this and that his aim is to make them more effective in their job.

Reshuffled were Police Precinct 2 (PP2) La Paz Chief, Senior Inspector Alejandro Apostol who was replaced by Senior Inspector Uldarico Garbanzos of ICPO chief investigation effective Friday; and PP4 (Molo) Chief, Senior Inspector Federico Silvestre who exchanged post with Senior Inspector Julie Gabinera of PP6 (Arevalo).

Silvestre has served PP4 for 10 months while Gabinera served PP6 for two months.

Bautista said that this reshuffling has nothing to with the alleged card games (tong-its) played inside the precincts. He said that the move was part of the organization's rotation and strategy to further improve their services.

"It's our usual rotation of our men to further improve their capabilities in serving our community," Bautista said.

Bautista reportedly got irked after receiving reports that some of his men, especially in PP2 are playing tong-its inside the precinct. This violates the higher command's order that card games can't be played in the police's respective assignment.

"I warned them to stop playing card games because it violates our standing memorandum order from the higher command. They are there not to play but to ensure the safety of the community and maintain peace and order," Bautista added.

On the other hand, Bautista said that police visibility in the city remains his main concern. He said that beat supervisors conduct a non-stop monitoring of their men who are posted in some areas, as well as the foot and mobile patrol.
