10 cops face admin, criminal raps for strafing own camp By Ruby P. Silubrico
TEN personnel of the 4th Iloilo Police Mobile Group were slapped with criminal and administrative cases for manhandling two rookie cops and strafing their own station in Dumangas, Iloilo.
Superintendent Cornelio Defensor, chief of the Regional Intelligence and Investigation Division who spearheaded the investigation, said those facing attempted murder and four administrative sanctions are SPO1 Alberto Solatorio, PO3s Ermelito Valencia, Jose Roger Suarez, Jesus Magallona, PO2 Jeriel Daria, PO1 Josebert Delideli, PO1 Joemarie Balisang, PO2 Felipe Paredes, PO1 German Limbungan and Po1 Roger Calambro.
The result of the investigation further showed that Daria, Delideli, Balisang and Solatorio were also charged with physical injuries for manhandling PO1 Adan Bello of Gan Subdivision, La Carlota, City and PO1 Jovel Bayogos of Barangay Tiwi, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.
The 10 are also facing administrative charges for grave misconduct, conduct grossly unbecoming officer, grave abuse of authority and conduct grossly prejudiced to the best interest of the service which is tantamount to dismissal.
The investigation revealed that the recovered slug on the upper portion of the IPMG office matched with that of the M16 armalite rifle owned by P01 Delideli.
Bayogos and Bello, who were reportedly having rigid training inside the IPMG camp, said that last August 10, at around 7 p.m. while they were walking inside, they were approached by Balisang, Solatorio, Delideli and Daria who were drunk.
They said that Balisang and his companions punched them and hit them with a piece of wood. They were later handcuffed but were later released when two training course officers, Inspector Calvin Cuyag and Senior Inspector John Clark went out to look for them.
When Cuyag and Clark were on their way to the administrative building to inquire about the incident, bursts of gunfire were heard. The building was hit.
Meanwhile, the 10 officers were restricted and disarmed after they were relieved. They are now at the Iloilo Police Provincial Office.
