Ilonggo shooters dominate 4th Mayor Ouano Cup
NELSON UYGONGCO showed dominance in the shooting sport when he topped the Standard Division of the 4th Mayor Ouano Cup held at NS Outdoor Range at Barangay Tawason, Mandaue City in Cebu last August 31 to September 2, 2006.
Uygongco, with 797.359 match points grabbed the Championship while Wilfredo "Toots" Anglo of Bacolod City took the 2nd place with 755.1309 match points.
Uygongco, Iloilo's shooting icon, is the reigning shoot-off champion in the Modified Division. He has been an Austral-Asia Champion in the Production Division.
Another Ilonggo proved that he is worthy to be a protégée of the Ilonggo icon when he convincingly showed to his mentor and to the shooting community that he too can be another world shooter is Warnel Dellota, champion in the Modified Division during the Visayas Area Championship held at the CPRA Firing Range in Mactan, Cebu again took the Championship of the same Division with a wide margin over his closest rival with 798.0706 match points. He was followed by Joel Tan of Cebu with 729.9305 points only.
Not to be outdone, another Ilonggo shooting star, the youthful Emil Jardeleza of the Jardeleza shooting clan grabbed the Championship of the Production Division.
Jardeleza took a convincing revenge over his loss to world shooter Daniel Torrevillas of Bohol during the CPRA Visayas Championship to whom he lost by a very slim margin. Jardeleza gathered 799.6525 match points while Torrevillas who has managed to take the 3rd place gathered 685.6693 match points only. Second to Jardeleza is another top shooter, a member of the Philippine Team, Dino Ang who managed to gather 711.8855 match points only.
As if to show that the Mayor Ouano Cup is an Ilonggo affair, Iloilo's top single stack shooter, National Champion Leo Jacildo humbled all top single stack shooter when he also showed that he is still the leader by again taking the Championship trophy. Jacildo with his 634.4375 match points was followed by his teammate Edgar Roga who managed to take the third place with 573.9749 match points. In between them is a Cebu shooter Lyndon Solatorio who took the second place with 591.2297 match points.
Stephen Hinojales of Negros Occidental, an acknowledge Open Division shooter and a Philippine Team member topped the Open Division with 826.3618. Following far behind with 646.2943 is We Tiak Chua of Cebu. Janette Gonzaga, President, Gun Club of Negros Occidental, another world campaigner took the Championship of the Standard Lady category.
Other Ilonggo shooters who participated m the event were Jerry Chua, Larry Borro, Edgar Stead Cute Peñaflorida, Kent Roger Peñaflorida, JB Chua (2nd Junior Open Category), Atty. Eugenio Original, Napoleon Senecida, Jojo Ravena, Dr. Mylo Soriaso and Glen Eric Cembrano.
