Board member not part of the program: mayor
By Ruby P. Silubrico

CABATUAN Mayor Ramon Yee said on Friday that Third District Board Member Emmanuel Gallar had no welcome streamer during their annual fiesta because “he was not part of the program.”

“The streamer was an invitation to be a guest in the program and that you are invited by the agency,” Yee said.

Earlier, Gallar got irked when he saw that there was no streamer greeting him. The streamers only stated Governor Niel Tupas Sr. and wife Myrna, balikbayans, 3rd District Representative Arthur Defensor and tourism officials, among others.

Gallar said Tupas may have influenced Yee not to hang a welcome streamer for him after he exposed an anomaly at the New Airport Development Project in Cabatuan.

Vice Gov. Roberto Armada and Board Member Licurgo Tirador had no streamers, too, thus Gallar said that there’s politics behind it.

“Nobody influenced me with the hanging of the streamer. I have no personal conflict with Board Member Gallar because we belong to one party during the last election,” Yee added.

“If ever the governor would order me in his official capacity as regards projects and programs in our town, its fine, but with the streamer, he had nothing to do with this,” he further said.

Gallar said, “Yee should have a little respect with some government officials like Armada and Tirador by hanging a welcome streamer.”

“A streamer can’t equal respect,” Yee said.

The town of Cabatuan will celebrate its fiesta on September 10.
