Village dads responsible for death of official, son By Ruby P. Silubrico
THE Guimaras police Tuesday confirmed that the New People's Army (NPA) did not kill Felomino Job, 43, and his son Lory June, 18, in Sebaste, Sibunga, Guimaras.
They were rather killed by village officials.
Senior Inspector Wilmer Arellano of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office said the perpetrators were Tanod Chief Narciso Papela and members Agripino Taclaro and Cornelio Arellano, all of Sebaste, Sibinag.
Arellano said the three were arrested at a checkpoint somewhere in Sebaste last Monday morning, which resulted to the recovery of two 12-gauge shotguns from the possession of Taclaro and Papela, who are now detained at Sibunag Police Station.
John Ryan Job, 14, younger son of Felomino, said they were on their way home at around 8 p.m. when Taclaro, Papela, and Arellano approached them.
Taclaro reportedly asked them, "Who are you"?
Felomino then answered and introduced himself through his nickname "Mino." After that, they were shot several times.
John Ryan heard his elder brother saying, "I was hit" while his father slowly fell to the ground.
John Ryan recognized the voice and appearance of Taclaro, Papela, and Arellano.
Arellano said they are still conducting an investigation on the motive for the killing. They are also focusing on the angle of mistaken identity or misunderstanding.
Two counts of murder charges would be filed against the three within this week.
