North Baluarte recovers from fire devastation
NORTH Baluarte, Molo, which was devastated by a fire that razed 300 houses last March, has recovered.
Assistance from the national and the city governments helped the village to "rise from the ashes."
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo provided P1 million for the construction materials of the burned houses while the City Government gave materials and goods, among others, for the residents.
Last Sept. 29, 2006, the concrete 48 meter-footbridge and 100 meter-foot walk were inaugurated.
Formerly burnt bamboo-built bridges, the coastal village now has concrete foot walks and footbridges easing the residents' way of life.
Village chief Emilio C. Locsin said he is proud of the developments in his area.
After the fire, there were already six concrete footbridges built. (LABB)
