By Lory Ann B. Bilbao

Malabor, a Liberal Party member under Senator Franklin Drilon, is reportedly eyeing the mayoralty post for 2007.

LP local leader Governor Niel D. Tupas Sr. earlier revealed that Drilon, during his visit here very recently, met with members including Malabor.

Former partymates (ruling party-Lakas-CMD) Malabor and Treñas separated ways in 2004 when the former took oath as a Liberal Party member under Drilon.

Treñas remained with Lakas.

Malabor ran for congressman but he lost to Raul Gonzalez Jr. Treñas triumphed in his second term.

The names of former councilor and lawyer Benjie Gengos were floated as possible running mate while lawyer Antonio Pesina, Councilor Jed Patrick Mabilog, and Vice Mayor Guillermo de la Llana were among those mentioned as possible running mate of Treñas.

Treñas said his lineup is complete but he wants to keep it a secret at the moment.

He said that the bid of his predecessor who served three consecutive terms as mayor gives the Ilonggos the chance to choose.
