Saturday, October 28, 2006 Maximum security set for tourism assembly By Ruby P. Silubrico
THE Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) will deploy more personnel and augmentation forces along the main roads to secure spectators in relation to Friday's Western Visayas Tourism Assembly (WVTA).
City Police Director Norlito Bautista said more than 50 uniformed personnel would be dispatched Friday when 19 tribes will parade from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bautista along with Police Regional Director Geary Barias checked Thursday the deployment of troops to assure the safety of spectators in the event that will start from the Freedom Grandstand to Provincial Capitol, Iznart and J.M Basa St.
Sniffing dogs will also be around to detect those who may plan to sabotage the event.
There are also force multipliers that would augment and assist the police. These are the school cadets, police interns, Bantay Bayan and Barangay Tanod members.
"Our men are all ready to safeguard people who would witness today's festival," Bautista said.(RPS)
