By Lory Ann B. Bilbao

THE Provincial Board approved the Provincial Government's P98-million supplemental budget during its regular session Tuesday.

One of the prioritized allocations in supplemental budget 3 is the bonuses of the volunteer health and day care workers.

For P20,120,400, barangay health workers, barangay service point officers, and day care workers in provincial areas will get P1,800 each for their Christmas bonus.

Committee on Appropriations Chairman, Board Member Niel Tupas Jr. cleared this before the board Tuesday.

The P20-million allocation for the bonuses is only one of the highest rated in the list of appropriations.

Another is P16,387,606 for the monetization of Capitol employees' leave credits for the entire year. If it's not released for the said purpose, it will be given and divided among Capitol employees for their Christmas bonus, said Tupas.

Another is an allocation of P30-million for the purchase of heavy equipment.

Tupas, who was questioned by Board Member Macario Napulan, said that the amount will be utilized to buy three vibratory compactors and a prime mover with trailer.

Tupas said the Provincial Engineer's Office recommended these equipments as finishers for road development projects.

"Technical people from the PEO said that after using a grader, the road should be compacted."

To note, P169-million was spent and allocated for heavy equipment. The P30-million was the third allocation.

Just this year, P100-million heavy equipment were purchased through a loan from the Land Bank of the Philippines. The first allocation was P39-million for the purchase of 10 dump trucks.
