2nd Ecological Solid Waste Management Week kicks off Monday

THE 2nd Ecological Solid Waste Management Week will kick-off Monday with a Healing Mass to be held at the fountain area of the capitol lobby, 9 a.m.

A caravan around the Iloilo City's thoroughfares will be held December 5, 2006 at 9 a.m.

The weeklong celebration with the theme "Ecological Solid Waste Management: Merging Partnership for Good Governance" will be highlighted by ESWM summit on December 7 at the Iloilo Sports Complex covered gym to be attended by the municipal mayors and their action officers.

The affair aims to create awareness on proper solid waste management especially from the household level up to the community, to the whole locality.

At the same time, the summit seeks to know the updates/status of ESWM implementation in the Province of Iloilo; to identify issues and concerns pertaining to the implementation of RA 9003 in the municipal/barangay level; to enhance awareness on RA 9003 and to gain cooperation and commitment of the local chief executives in the full implementation of ESWM.

Jeanette Sapilan, DENR division chief of ESWM will be the resource speaker during the Summit. (Capitol News)
