Friday, December 08, 2006 City Hall employees to get P10T bonus By Lory Ann B. Bilbao
ILOILO City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas recently ordered the immediate release of P10,000 as additional cash gifts to more or less 1,800 regular employees upon the city's receipt of the Department of Budget's (DBM) guidelines on the bonuses.
Treñas made this announcement last Monday, in celebration of his 50th birthday. Also, all village officials will receive Christmas bonuses.
Treñas said the City has accumulated some P16-million in salary savings to fund the additional bonus for the employees and P6-million for the village officials.
The savings were also the result of Treñas's earlier freeze order in the filling up of vacant permanent positions in the City Government.
"Due to the increase in prices of goods and commodities, I have long ordered the City Treasury and the City Budget to ensure that allocation be made for an additional bonus for all regular employees."
The DBM's order allows all local government units to grant their employees additional cash gifts provided these would be paid from its savings.
This amount was aside from the mandated 13th month pay and P5,000 cash gift of every employee, which were already released last November.
The Office of the City Treasurer will start giving out the extra cash gifts the moment they receive the DBM's guidelines.
