53 Aklan firms to join Kalibo Ati-atihan Product Showcase

KALIBO, Aklan -- A total of 53 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have signified their interest to join the Kalibo Ati-Atihan Product Showcase 2007. Eleven (11) are food processors, 10 represent the gifts and houseware group, two come from the furniture industry, eight are engaged in loom weaving, and 22 belong to the garden sector. Opening and blessing of the Product Showcase is at 2 p.m. on the 16th of January and will culminate on the 22nd at the Pastrana Park , Kalibo, Aklan. Aklan Provincial Director Ermelinda P. Pollentes said that the Product Showcase is one of the highlights of the Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival.

She added that visitors and buyers will have a chance to see and enjoy the latest designs on woven fabrics and fashion accessories made of piña, abaca and raffia fibers, souvenir and gift items, clay-based products, furniture and furnishings, ornamental plants and will have the best taste of the delectable Aklan bakery products and processed food.

The annual marketing event is a joint project of the Municipal Government of Kalibo, Kalibo Ati-Atihan Management Board, Provincial Government of Aklan, Department of Trade and Industry-Aklan, and Hugod Aklanon Producers Association, Inc.

Target sales for this year is P908,710, which is 10 percent higher from the previous year's sales performance of P826,100.
