THE Iloilo Tinagan School of Martial Arts Inc. in cooperation with Wushu Federation Philippines presented a 2006 Wushu Cultural Expo Showdown at Robinsons place Iloilo on Dec. 28, 2006.
Wushu sport is a Chinese martial arts or military arts. It is composed of two disciplines the Taolu (routines) Sanshou (fight). As a sport, it became Asian Games medal sport in 1990.
Wushu performance includes bare hands, sword, and broadsword as short apparatus and spear and cudgel as long apparatus.
This creates a platform for spectacular choreography and movements of martial connotation with perfect poise, flow, speed and artistic merit.Students who came from different schools presented different kinds of martial arts. Students from St. Agustin (Dumangas) performed the Taolu basic fundamental Frau, advance fundamentals was performed by participants from San-Yat- Sen.; Karate was performed by ITSMAI students; and John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation (Arevalo) performed Sanshou.
Chief instructor Gerald Tinagan performed Taolu davance long step. Rene S. Catalan, 15th Asian Games Doha 2006 gold medalist was also there. He gave a message to students on how to become successful in the field of martial arts. He said, "Make God as the center of your life and be determined and be focused on what you do."
They also held the Arnis Laban competition on Dec. 27, 2006. The winner in the arnis labanan sayaw competition, college level is Gerald Tinagan. Ian Anthony Coniza and Cirglen Amor from high school level won the 1st place in the Duelo category.
The President of the school is Gerald Tinagan, also the chief instructor.
The Iloilo Tinagan School of Martial Arts, Inc. (The World Class School of Martial Arts) is located at the 2nd level of Robinson’s Place Iloilo.
They accept students as young as six years old and above (boys and girls) and provides private training, walk-in session and school training package upon request.
