Friday, January 19, 2007 Lopez-Peņa couple is 2007 Hermano, Hermana Mayor
FOR this year's Dinagyang Festival, Rito Carlos "Judgee " Lopez Peņa and Sarah Opolencia Peņa will be the Hermano and Hermana Mayor.
This is their fourth stint as the 'big brother and big sister' of the Confradia de Sr. Sto. Niņo, the group that is responsible for the religious activities during the Dinagyang Festival.
They were Hermano and Hermana Mayores in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
Judgee is the son of the late Judge Remegio Peņa of Isabela, Negros Occidental and Yolanda " Bobbie" Lopez, eldest daughter of Don Fernando and Doņa Mariquit Javellana Lopez. He is the grandson of the late Philippine Vice - President Fernando Lopez, a sugar planter and fishpond operator.
Sarah is the daughter of Cristino Opolencia and Tarcila Lambot of Isabela, Negros Occidental. She is a nurse by profession. She is currently the College Nurse of Western Visayas College of Science and Technology.
The couple is blessed with three talented and intelligent daughters --- Rita, the eldest is now a freshman at Ateneo de Manila University taking up Law Proper; Risa the second child is also studying Pre-Law also at Ateneo; Rica the youngest is now a Grade 3 pupil at Assumption Iloilo.
They were named the "Power Couple" of Iloilo by the prestigious magazine Philippine Tatler for 2006.
They were also listed as one of the top 400 most influential and "People you Must Know" in the Philippine Social Registry, also by the same magazine.
The couple celebrated their 25th Silver Wedding Anniversary last January 2006.
Aside from being active in civic and religious activities, the couple are also staunch advocates of quality education, thus, they opened RS - Child Development Center - a private primary school in Arevalo, Iloilo City.
Apart from the religious activities that the couple will sponsor, they decided to give support to the WVCST Artist Guild, which is having its exhibit called "Perspective" at the Robinsons Place Iloilo on Jan. 25, 2007.
Sarah said that when she saw that the students of WVCST were talented, she was inspired.
