Lawmaker condemns killing of 12-year-old
SAYING, "Our district has just lost an angel," Representative Janette L. Garin (1st district, Iloilo) has condemned the rape and killing of the twelve-year-old girl from Miagao.
"These inhumane acts should not be tolerated most particularly since it deals with a minor. As a legislator and advocate for women and children's welfare, she calls for the immediate resolution of the case and apprehension of those involved," she said.
"We just lost an angel, and this must not be tolerated. Let this be an eye opener to all our 'kasimanwas' to be wary of people coming into our peaceful district. Let everybody be watchful and cautious if we have new faces in the neighborhood," she added.
The victim's body was recovered in Barangay Igcocolo, Guimbal, a town known for very low crime rate and competent PNP personnel.
The case started without any clue as to the identity of either the victim or the suspects but with the speedy and efficient police operations, they were able to shed light on the case.
Garin stressed that "this is an isolated case and is not reflective of Guimbal nor of Miagao as these towns are generally peaceful and do not usually have people with a satanic act."
She expressed sympathy for the victim's family and appeals for those who have valuable information to cooperate so that the family will get the justice they deserve.
"I will fully support all investigations geared to solve this crime and call on all authorities to combine efforts so that this incident will never be repeated in the history of our district", Garin said. For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star General Santos.
