The new yummy kid in Tinseltown

HE was standing by his bike enjoying the smell of the pines, waiting for someone when someone approached him and asked him to audition for a film project. He was stunned, trying to figure out if he was dreaming or not. And never had he dreamt of becoming an actor.

At first he was afraid to accept the job because it's alien territory for him. But his curiosity got over him and he can't resist finding out so he auditioned. He bagged one of the lead roles for TROIKA (threesome), the maiden film offering of Daven Productions International, written by Enrique Ramos and directed by Ihman Esturco.

And so the new experience began. Ihman was the stranger who approached him. He was the one instrumental for what he is right now and he is very thankful. He showed his naïve smile and say, "I stayed in Baguio for years and I've learned about the culture of the native people there. I got used to their ways. I wasn't accustomed anymore to the ways here in Manila. My experience in Baguio taught me a lot. I wanted to show how native people really are, how far they can go, how determined they could be just to have money to suffice their everyday needs.

During the shoot, he had the hardest time doing the threesome scene. "It was very difficult for me kissing the same gender, but I know it's what the role asks for. I was shy at first because so many people were watching us, but I wanted to prove that I am worthy of the trust they've given me so I did my best."

Because of his director's encouragement and motivation Jamil Basa can now smile and proudly say, "I was able to do it because Direk Ihman and the staff trusted me...and right now I'm enjoying it." He co-stars with 2 new actors like him, Mara Altiera and Andre Soriano.

Jamil just can't stop talking about his first acting experience so I let him do the talking. "The 12-day shoot in Beguet was very hard and challenging for me. But I've learned and experienced a lot form there. The most memorable moment for me while doing the film was when I have to being part of Daven Production. I had fun working with my co-stars, old and new alike, and especially the production staff. The treatment was very nice. All of them treated me fairly. I might say that all of them are my favorites because they worked professionally."

I asked him what he thinks of his director. "Direk Ihman Esturco, ahmm...very professional, caring and he teach us well. He also motivated us to act naturally. He brings out the best in me. As we all know that this is my first acting job. He made sure that we're having fun while working and there was no dull moment.

I then asked about his personal relationship. What type of girl does he want?" I'm not into physical appearance. What's important for me is she will trust, understand and accept me for what I am. Love for me is taking all the risk and facing all the consequences that might happen." I wanted to know more so I asked if doing a threesome is ok with him after doing TROIKA. He was laughing as he says, "oh my God! It's a big no. no! I'm not that stupid to share the most "Precious" girl in my life. The farthest I could go is strip dancing with my girl!

As an actor he wanted to try different roles and her dream partner is Paris Hilton. He said he admires Antonia Banders," he is a versatile actor; he acts great, dance and sing well. But the film that is imbedded in my heart is Troika. I love Troika."

It will have its regular showing on Valentines Day.

Dare and find out how this new kid in tinseltown will set the screen ablaze. I assure you that you'll find the actors yummy and the film sizzling with passion and desire.
