2-year-old killed in Molo fire
By Ruby P. Silubrico

A TWO-year-old boy died Monday when a fire razed five houses at Compania, Central Molo.

The burnt body of Fritz Benial, youngest of six siblings, was found an hour after the fire started at 11 a.m.

Post your Valentine's Day greetings

His parents left Benial behind. He was reportedly sleeping at the upper level of their house when a neighbor shouted at the residents to vacate.

Benial's mother Christie tried but failed to save her son.

Benial was even heard by neighbors shouting to his parents to get him out.

The personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection are still conducting an investigation as to where the fire started and what caused it.

The houses that were destroyed were owned by Mario Tenaga, Anita Macalalag, Thelma Gandicila, Dorminola Dedil, and Fortiprial Baniel while the house of Ferdinand Vargas was damaged.

Last November 1, 2006, the house of Benial was almost burned. Neighbors helped to stop the fire.

Bureau of Fire Protection Chief Nilo Pacificar warned the public to often check their electric wires in order to avoid short circuit that could cause a fire.

Pacificar also urged residents to observe fire safety rules.
