THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) bared 42 cases of "terroristic acts" allegedly perpetrated by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) in 2006 as it marks its 38 years of "no respect for human rights."
Officer-In-Charge of the 3RD Civil Military Operations Unit, Capt. Cromwell Danganan said that it is also the 38th years of sufferings for the Filipino people from terrorism as they desperately try to project to be the protectors of the people and allegedly fighting for the freedom of the oppressed.
"Past and present events are telling us of their anti-people and anti-development acts such as liquidation, extortion, exploitation of women and minors, extra-judicial killing, burning of cell sites and other terrorism acts that greatly affect the peace and development of the country," Danganan said.
Among the recorded atrocities allegedly done by the CPP-NPA from 2006-2007 are liquidation of Rufino Cadugo alias Rocky, an RPA-ABB cadre in January 18, 2006 in Brgy Pepe, Leon, Iloilo; Liquidation of Rogelio Magbato former Chief of RPA-Southern Negros that happened on January 25, 2006 at Poblacion, Mabinay, Negros Occidental; Strafing the house of Ben Cadili, a former RPA member at Abis, Mabinay, Negros Occidental; Liquidation of Armando Gomogda and Luisito Lagronio of Salvacion, Balasan, Iloilo that happened on February 2, 2006 led by Renato Avila.
Also included were the liquidation of Sunny Villamor believed to be done by LG1-KR-N at Sitio Bunucan, Brgy Mandapaton, Negros Oriental on February 28, 2006; Raiding the house of Mario Landiza at Brgy Guihulngan, Negros Oriental on March 13 and the Provincial Mobile Group Detachment at Brgy Malsibog, Escalante, City on March 19; Harassment of Gatuslao detachment in Brgy Gatuslao, Candini, Negros Occidental on March 24, 2006; Liquidation of two members of the 602nd Regional Mobile Group identified as PO1 Albert Alcala and PO1 Nelfen Villacampa in May 2006.
Another harassment named was that at Barasbarasan detachment Manlucahoc, Sipalay, Negros Occidental on March 27, 2006; Abduction of Willy Pader in Cabcab, Isabela, Negros Occidental in May 2006; Liquidation of Virgilio Perez, at Mabini Escalante, Negros Occidental in May 2006; Ransacked the house of Ben Gaudencio at Brgy Liboron, Catigbian, Bohol on January 19, 2006; Liquidation of rebel returnee Eladio Dasian in Malusay, Guihulngan in January 2006; Harassment of Hinakpan detachment stationed at Brgy Hinakpan, Guihulngan; Liquidation of Sammy Puyong at Aningalan, San Remegio Antique in July 2006; Liquidation of SPO1 Hilario Vicente, Finance Officer of Tubungan Police Station while at public market in July 4, 2006 and; Burning of panel board of Globe Cell Site at San Isidro Bohol in July 2006.
"They are also responsible in raiding the Tarli Mining in Calatrava; ransacked the house of Barangay Capt. Enerio Hari in Bungsuan, Dumarao Capiz; Burning of the Toyota truck owned by Alter trade Corp. in Bacolod City, abductiing Cerilo Tumbaga at Toboso Negros Occidental; Killing of 2LT Abelardo Motia of 12th Infantry Battalion; Burning of batching plant of Takenaka Itochu and Hanjin Construction in Silay City; Ambushing the 11th Infantry Battalion vehicle at Calatrava, Negros Occidental and; Burning of 20 hectares of sugarcane plantation in San Jose Toboso, Negros Occidental.
Liquidation of Victoriano Jaberto at Tambulan Tayasan, Negros Occidental; Liquidation of Brgy Capt. Hinakpan, harassment of the 4th Provincial Mobile Group in Sipalay; Looting the house of Angelino Villanueva in Escalante; Burning of two tractors owned by Betty Montila in Cadiz; Liquidation of Wilson Garde, Rudy Azunsion, Boboy Campaner, Inocencio Samson, Lauro Lumberto, Rodulfo Seva; Attempting to murder Eddie Dava, Alladin Flores; Liquidation of Jose Cabungan and; Attack against Barangay chieftain and followers riding on a truck, at Libertad, Negros Occidental, which resulted to the death of seven men, including a chieftain and five others wounded.
Danganan said that while the soldiers are committed to serve and protect the people for a lasting peace and development, "communist-terrorists" are also out there to sow terror among the people.
"Rest assured that the 3ID will continue to drive these insurgents away, carry on in assisting local government units and persist on its role of defending democracy, in order for the Filipinos to achieve a lasting peace and prosperity," Danganan said.
