Friday, March 30, 2007 Do more in campaign vs. wanted persons: Dulay
POLICE Chief Supt. Wilfredo V. Dulay Sr. said the police must put in effect the immediate arrest of wanted persons -- not only to bring justice to their victims but also to prevent them from perpetrating more crimes.
Just recently, several police operations yielded results with seven wanted persons for different crimes. This accomplishment is but a fraction of the ultimate goal of Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 to clear the region with criminals whose warrant of arrests had already been issued by the courts.
"Criminals on the loose pose great danger to the public. We have to lock them up in jails," he added.
Though some wanted persons are accused of petty crimes, Dulay stressed however that the police, being the agent of person in authority, must be impartial in complying the needed implementation of Warrant of Arrests against these persons. Besides, "suspects of small-scale crimes are potential perpetrators of big crimes," he explained.
Dulay commended several police units who have been intensifying their campaign against wanted persons.
On Monday (March 26) alone, seven wanted personalities were collared in separate police operations. Three suspects were nabbed for attempted murder by elements of Buenavista MPS led by PSI Jerry Rusgal, officer-in-charge, by virtue of Warrant of Arrest issued by Judge Merlyn Beloria of RTC Branch 65 against Edgardo Sagre Galos, 18 years old, and Nuriel Galanza Dela Cruz, 25 years old, Angelo Gan Devis, 24 years old, all residents of Brgy. Sto. Rosario, Buenavista, Guimaras.
In Sara, Iloilo, the team of SPO1 Hilario C Lauron effected the arrest against Ricky Sonza Delumos, 30 years old, single and a resident of Brgy Pusadas of the said town for the crime of rape. And in Mina, Iloilo, a scrap buyer, Ernie Amigable Cataloctocan, who was the subject of the Warrant of Arrest for the crime of Theft issued by Hon Judge Eva Saul-Padilla was arrested 1:30 PM at Brgy. Cabalabaguan, of said town.
During the arrest, police operatives led by SPO3 Carlito P Sejera Sr confiscated from the possession and control of Amigable one knife about 10 inches long with scabbard tucked on his waist. Hence, a case for violation of Comelec Resolution Nr 7788 was filed against the suspect.
Still, Dulay is firm with his statement that other police units must also be aggressive in their campaign against wanted persons and those who are doing well at present must not be complacent with their performance. "Police must always be consistent in giving the public positive results of their operations," he ended.
