Marquez to head CRS
By Ruby P. Silubrico

Capt. Lowen Gil Marquez assumes Major Marinito Cabuenas' position starting today.

Marquez, after serving in Iloilo for a long time, went to the higher command and stayed for more than a year until his transfer was finally approved.

He said that his present position is another challenge for him and is happy to serve and protect the Ilonggos against the "atrocities" of the New People's Army.

Before Marquez was assigned in the higher command, he went hiding after he was charged for murder in Mindanao but the case was later dismissed for lack of evidences.

He also survived and escaped when the rebels abducted and were about to kill him in Mindanao years ago.

As the New People's Army (NPA) celebrates their 38th anniversary, Marquez considered it as 38 years of terrorism to the Filipino people.

He said that the NPA will continue with their extortion activities, human rights violation, murder of innocent people, and recruitment of minors. Thus, he continues to condemn it. Especially the recent death of PFC Norlie Camilon who was killed in an encounter in Brgy Sagcop, Lambunao, Iloilo.

"The AFP is calling for the entire community to help the government forces in ending the 38 years of terrorism to the Filipino people performed by the NPA.This in order to have peace and development towards a bright future," Marquez said.
