Zhang's wife uncooperative: Killers still unnamed
By Ruby P. Silubrico

THE Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) under Chief Wesley Barayuga remained clueless on the identity of the perpetrators who shot dead a businessman Zhigang Zhang, along Javellana St., Jaro Iloilo City last June 1, 2007.

Barayuga pointed a finger to the Zhang's wife, Rena, whom he said was uncooperative to the investigation. Thus, said they were relying on their own probe.

He said Rena might be scared despite the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in looking for the "hired killers."

As of now, Barayuga said the police could not find witnesses that could give them the exact features of the killers though there were persons who have witnessed the incident.

"We are only dependent on our own effort to identify the suspects because the victim's family refused to cooperate with us," Barayuga said.

It was learned that Rena declined to turn over Zhang's cadaver to the PNP for autopsy though the police insisted that it would help for the investigation.

Zhang, who owned the Blue Moon Cellular phones and accessories shop, located in Ledesma St., Iloilo City, succumbed to a gunshot wound on his left shoulder.
Reportedly, two persons riding on a motorcycle, shot him three times while he was driving his car.

His personal belongings and valuables including his cellular phones and money were intact. Thus the police believed the motive was rivalry in business.
