Tuesday, November 27, 2007 Abduction in Janiuay alarms PNP By Jay Dooma Balnig
THE recent abduction of a Grade 5 Chinese-looking boy in Janiuay town has alarmed police and local government officials.
Janiuay Mayor Buenvenido Margarico immediately ordered the local police to increase visibility along public and private schools after a group of men kidnapped a grade five pupil of Janiuay Pilot Elementary School last November 12.
The 12-year-old boy, whom the PNP found out to be the son of a pedicab driver and a housekeeper, was reportedly mistaken as the son of a wealthy Chinese businessman in Janiuay.
During police investigation, "Sonny" (not his real name) narrated that while he was alone and waiting for his classmate in front of Janiuay Catholic Church at around 12:00 noon, three unidentified men, at knife point snatched him and dragged him inside a black pick up car.
While the said car was traversing in unknown direction, he said he was blind folded. He fell asleep and when he woke up, he heard one of the kidnappers saying, "gya run kami" (we're here).
He heard another male voice saying, "bukon ti amo dya, ibalik nyo ra tuya" (he's not the one, bring him back there).
Sonny said he was indeed brought back to the place where he was abducted after the said conversation.
The PNP warned that the said kidnappers, who were speaking the dialect of Janiuay might be natives of the same municipality who pursue their plan.
Police advised more vigilance not only on the part of the parents but also on that of the teachers to avoid the same incident to happen.
