Inmate Jose Rey Consumo succumbed to fatal injuries on the head and on the body at 2:25 a.m. of December 24, 2007.

Report showed that his cellmate, Aquilino Sualibios, who was suffering from a nervous breakdown, was the one who mauled him last December 20 at around 2:30 p.m.

Sualibios reportedly used a pole and hit it to Consumo for several times until he lost his consciousness before the jail guards responded.

Consumo was one of the three suspects who were the suspected killers of Quipot Barangay chief Jerry Colaja days before the barangay elections.
