ILOILO City Mayor Jerry Treñas recently confirmed that Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Director Wesley Barayuga would replace Director Norlito Buatista as chief of the Directorial Staff of the Regional Police Office.
Treñas, in a radio interview, said Barayuga displayed excellence in maintaining peace and order in the city in more than a year of service. He commended Barayuga for a "job well done."
This might have also convinced Police Regional Isagani Cuevas to get Barayuga as replacement to Bautista, who is reportedly retiring this year.
Barayuga was a staff in the regional office before he was assigned as ICPO director.
Commended to Barayuga's post is Senior Supt. Bartolome Tobias. There was no confirmation on the report yet.
On the other hand, around 20 personnel in the regional office are now under investigation for their alleged involvement in the trade and use of illegal drugs.
Cuevas refused to name them.
It was known that all the PNP personnel at the regional office will undergo drug test.
Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) Director Ricardo Delapaz said the personnel in Pototan actually undergone the said test recently.
He said Pototan became the pilot station after receiving information that the station's men were using illegal drugs.
This move is reportedly the initiative of Cuevas. It is aimed at cleansing the personnel of the entire police organization from illegal activities.
