Various provincial achievers awarded

IN LINE with the celebration of the 107th Semana sang Iloilo, the Iloilo Provincial Government awarded Thursday the achievers in various fields of public service in the province.

Awards were given to achievers in agriculture, clean and green, and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) achievers.

The national awardees for achievers in agriculture for this year were Luren Grace Arquez, 1st prize in meat processing last year and Aries Salolog, who participated in the Young Filipino Farmers Training in Japan last year.

Regional awardees for the Gawad Saka were Lawrence Alimongking for Outstanding Young Farmer, Myrna Reyes for Outstanding Corn Farmer and Abilay Sur Modified Farmers Association for Outstanding Small Farmers/Fisherfolk Organization, and MAFC-Leon for Outstanding Municipal Agricultural and Fishery Council.

Provincial awardees were Eusebio Tumasis of Tigbauan for Outstanding Rice Farmer, Wilhelm Leonidas of Calinog for Outstanding Rice Farmer Technologist, Ananias Gamoso of Guimbal for Outstanding Dairy Cattle Raiser, Reynaldo Acap of Oton for Outstanding Fish Hatchery Operator, and Domingo Sobremisana of Lambunao for Outstanding Organic Vegetable Farmer.

Clean and Green awards were given to various towns and barangays in the province.

For the poblacion category, the municipality of New Lucena got the first place, followed by San Joaquin, Balasan, Lambunao and Dingle.

For the rural barangay category, Barangay Nueva Invencion of Barotac Viejo got the first place while Barangay Badiang of New Lucena got the second place, followed by Barangay Siwaragan of San Joaquin, Barangay Astorga of Badiangan and Barangay Qinaringan of Passi City.

The municipalities of Miagao, Guimbal and Barangay Cabugao of Lambunao were given the sustainability award.

On the other hand, awards were also distributed to DILG barangay achievers in the province.

For Gabay sa Mamamayan Action Center (GMAC) Urban category, 1st Place went to Barangay South Poblacion of Oton and 2nd Place was given to Barangay Zone 1 of Tubungan.

For the GMAC rural category, Barangay Cabasi of Guimbal was 1st Place while Barangay Amiroy of Mina got the 2nd place. Finally, there was Barangay Cabugao Sur, Pavia for Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa.

The awarding ceremony was headed by Governor Niel Tupas Sr.

In his message to the awardees, Tupas said he is proud to have such public servants in the province and wished them to continue their outstanding service to the people.
