Monday, June 23, 2008 Ex-village chief's brod nabbed for illegal drugs
A BROTHER of a former barangay captain is facing drug charges after a big volume of shabu was recovered from his house during a raid conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea) at North San Jose, Molo, Iloilo City.
Herman Janeo alias Elmer, 48 years old, and a brother of former Barangay Captain Larry Janeo, was nabbed at 2 a.m. last Thursday.
PDEA 6 Regional Director Roybel Sanchez said they entered the house of Janeo through a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Antonio Natino of Branch 26.
The operation resulted in the recovery of seven big sachets of shabu, including a buy-bust sachet.
Sanchez said prior to the raid, they conducted a test buy to make sure that Janeo was inside his house and engaged in the illegal drug trade.
After the test buy operation, they raided Janeo's house and drug paraphernalia and cash amounting to P1,000 were recovered inside his home.
Reports reaching the PDEA office showed that the suspect was once detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in 2003 for selling drugs. He later posted bail.
"This time we have to make sure that he could not post a bail bond because selling drugs or violating Art. II, Section 5 of RA 9165 is not bailable," Sanchez said. (RPS)
