Mayor denies mixing politics with relief operations
By Erwin Cabarles

ILOILO City Mayor Jerry Treñas denied allegations that politics is being mixed with the relief operations in the city.

City Vice Mayor Jed Mabilog said the relief operations in some barangays in the city is tainted with politics by local officials.

"I don't know the basis of Vice Mayor Mabilog's allegations but I have no idea about it. However, I assure that there is no politics in our relief operations here as it is not right," Treñas said.

The mayor added that all the relief goods are equally distributed.

Some Punong Baranggays also denied the recent allegations, saying that the relief goods are fairly distributed among their constituents.

Others say that the issue is only in the baranggay level where some village chiefs distribute the goods only to those who voted for them in the last election while the others received none. (EC)
