City to extend financial aid to 'Frank' casualties

MAYOR Jerry Treñas said Tuesday that the City Government would provide financial assistance to relatives of Iloilo City residents who were killed in the typhoon and the flood last June 21 and 22.

According to him, it was agreed that the families of the unfortunate victims will be given P5,000 for funeral expenses and other needs.

He added that the fund for this is currently being processed for release at the Accounting Office.

The City Government has recorded 25 Typhoon Frank casualties, all of which were legitimate citizens of Iloilo.

Moreover, the data indicate that the Jaro district has the most number of casualties with 22 dead persons. The rest are from Barangay Magsaysay, La Paz and Barangays Tabucan and Bolilao in Mandurriao district.

The typhoon casualties from Jaro district are John Kenneth Apora, 21 years old; Florente Viodo, 72 years old; Lilia Dumancas, 78 years old; Renato Derecho, 38 years old; Domingo Anzures, 92 years old; Jemson Salazar, 21 years old; Marnie Flores, 17 years old; Jerwin Salazar, 4 years old; Mary Joy Nava, 16 years old; Dolores Dato-on, 74 years old; Miguel Guevara, 83 years old; Felisicima Rico, 98 years old; Loreto Jolo, 34 years old; Elsa Dela Cruz, 56 years old; Ken Policarpio, 3 years old; Lyka Conde, 1 year and 3 months; Christopher Delmo, 9 years old; Dennis Castor, 43 years old; Jesus Porras, 43 years old; Milagros Mana-ay, 76 years old; Phebe Brillantes, 69 years old; and Leonor Gumban, 74 years old.

Other casualties include Arturo Segovia Sr. of Magsaysay, La Paz; Eduardo Erfe of Tabucan Mandurriao; and Florente Nathalie of Bolilao Mandurriao who died of diarrhea. (EC)
