Saturday, September 13, 2008 10 Ilonggo entrepreneurs inspire communities
A TOTAL of 10 Ilonggo entrepreneurs were cited by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) for inspiring contributions to their community. Their stories became a byword of budding local entrepreneurs.
The 10 outstanding entrepreneurs, mostly residents of Iloilo City, were awarded trophies as testament of efforts in a ceremony at the Go Negosyo Caravan held at Central Philippine University in Jaro district on September 12.
Go Negosyo founding trustee Joey Concepcion, with Iloilo Business Club president Antonio Jon, Las Piñas Representative Cynthia Villar, Presidential Assistant Raul Banias and businesswoman Gaita Araneta Fores awarded the trophies to most inspiring Ilonggo entrepreneurs.
The entrepreneurs were: Antonio Steven Chan of Central Azucarera de San Antonio Inc., Joseph Vincent Go of Light of Glory Taxi Services, Jose Gerardo Guadarrama of Original Biscocho Haus, Tomas Hautea Sr. of Retcem Bangus Hatchery and Fish Farm, Johnny Que of Waffle Time, Arsenio Rafael of AM Builders Depot, Edgar "Injap" Sia II of Mang Inasal, Alfonso Uy, represented by son Kenneth Uy of La Filipina Uy Gongco Corp. and Salvador Sarabia Jr. of Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center.
A special award was given to Angel de Leon Jr., a social entrepreneur who laid the foundations for Taytay sa Kauswagan, a micro-financing firm starting in Iloilo and to the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. (Lydia C. Pendon)
