Mayor hopes glitches won't affect Dinagyang

AFTER the Iloilo City Council refused to approve the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the City Government and the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (Idfi), Mayor Jerry Treñas expressed hopes this will not affect the festival next year.

The foundation reportedly failed to submit a complete financial statement during this year's Dinagyang Festival.

The City Council said the submitted statement passed by the Idfi was insufficient.

Treñas advised the foundation to comply with the requirements of the City Council to avoid any effects on next year's activities.

Dinagyang Festival is held every January in Iloilo City.

It is boasted by the City Government as a world-class festival comparable to other festivals around the globe.

It consequently generates income for the city by attracting tourists to come.

The Idfi is the City Government's deputized agency in organizing the events during the festivities and likewise funded to do it.
