Jaro social workers celebrate Family Day

A FORUM on ‘The Role of Authority in the Family’ marked the Family Day celebration of City Social Welfare Development Office–Jaro District II, Iloilo City last Monday.

The Supplemental Feeding Workers under Mrs. Ruby Lopez, Community Social Welfare Development Officer III, organized the forum in pursuit of the this year’s theme “Fathers and Families: Responsibilities and Challenges.”

PO2 Francisco B Lindero Jr. of Regional Public Information Office, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas, Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City graced the event as guest speaker.

With 50 couples in attendance, Lindero centered his talk on the importance of authority in the home.

Lindero outlined five key points in his talk: 1) Authority in the home as ordained by God; 2) Authority causes cooperation and organization in the home; 3) Authority allows children to benefit from the parents’ wisdom and experience; 4) Authority molds children’s character and habits; and 5) Parental authority teaches children proper attitudes toward all authority.

The Social Welfare Development Offices nationwide celebrate Family Day every September.

Other members of CSWDO–Jaro District II are Welfare Assistant Rose Cartagena, Supplemental Feeding Worker President Myrnalyn Dunggo, Myrna Baterna, Angelita Tan, Sally Umahag, Aletha Danosa, Ma Victoria Calinawagan, Ruby Lopez, Lory Arban, Rosemarie Cayao, and Lucy Gabatayao. (F. Lindero)
