Sunday, October 12, 2008 Jailed 'pusher' says PDEA planted evidence
THE counsel of an alleged drug pusher is filing administrative and criminal charges against the operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Western Visayas for allegedly planting evidences against his client.
Lawyer Hans Sayno said his client, Joemarie Seldoni, who was arrested in a reported buy-bust operation Wednesday, was riding in a pedicab the same day when group of men waylaid and handcuffed him in Zamora Street.
It was followed by an immediate arrest and proclamation of identities on the part of the PDEA operatives.
Seldoni asserted that when the PDEA operatives frisked him, only a pack of cigar and several denominations of cash inside his pocket were recovered contrary to their claim that 20 packs of dried marijuana were seized from his possession.
However, when the PDEA people brought him to their office in Camp Delgado, the group allegedly presented the 20 packs of dried leaves of marijuana.
According to PDEA Regional Director Roybel Sanchez, Seldoni has been selling drugs for almost eight months until he was caught.
Their information also showed that Seldoni earlier bought one kilo of marijuana from a drug dealer at Mabolo Delgado, Iloilo City but in an interrogation, he refused to mention his dealer's name.
He, however, admitted using drugs.
Sanchez said his office welcomes the possible raps that Seldoni and his legal team will file but never doubts his apprehending team's report and the evidences against Seldoni that the group showed.
Sanchez said his personnel are now in non-stop operation against drug dealers in the region, adding that there are 728 drug personalities who are now under tight watch 346 of which are drug dealers from Iloilo City and 115 are from Negros Occidental. (JDB/RPS)
