Tuesday, November 11, 2008 City to set up guidelines for relocation project By Erwin Cabarles
THE Iloilo City Government will implement measures to prevent beneficiaries of its relocation program from selling their lots.
According to Mayor Jerry Treñas, he will ask the help of Councilor Antonio Pesina, chairman of the City Council committee on urban poor, in creating guidelines for the project.
He said it is possible that beneficiaries found to have sold their lots would be blacklisted by the City Government and their grant revoked.
Pesina earlier revealed that not all those living in the city's relocation sites are qualified beneficiaries but just bought the house and lot from the original settlers.
He said he would make the rounds of the relocation sites and attempt to identify those not qualified to settle there, adding they could be compelled to vacate the property.
