Cops nab 'pushers' with 30 grams of shabu
By Jonathan Fernandez

JUST when President Gloria Arroyo ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to wage an all-out war against illegal drugs and kidnapping, PNP operatives in Surigao City, Wednesday nabbed two suspected notorious drug pushers in the city possessing 30 grams of shabu worth P75,000.

In a report to Interior and Local Government Secretary Joey Lina Jr., DILG-Caraga Administrative Region Director Carlos Derecho identified the suspects as brothers Ronald and Rommel Ong Alcantara, both residing at San Nicolas St. in Surigao City.

Derecho said Surigao City PNP operatives led by Sr. Insp. Lloyd Millar Sr. raided the house of the suspects armed with a search warrant issued by Surigao City RTC Branch 30 Judge Floripinas Buyser.

Recovered from the suspects were some 30 grams of shabu packed in 16 sachets and various illegal drugs paraphernalia.

Derecho said the suspects and the seized items were brought to the Surigao City PNP for investigation and filing of appropriate charges.

For his part, Lina lauded the Surigao City PNP for its relentless campaign against illegal drugs, saying it augurs well in the government's over-all anti-drugs drive in the country.

"With no less than the President ordering the PNP to wage an all-out war against illegal drugs, each and every police officer and personnel is duty bound to heed her call and go all-out to ensure the government's triumph in this crusade," Lina emphasized.
