2 'swindlers' preying on cops, soldiers nabbed By Jonathan Fernandez
TWO persons allegedly involved in a large-scale pyramid scam victimizing soldiers and policemen were arrested by operatives of the Central Police District (CPD) in Cubao, Quezon City Monday afternoon.
Arrested were Emilia Sison, 48, president of the International Commodity Sales (ICS) and of Cainta, Rizal; and Domingo Mirasol, 52, of Daraga, Albay.
CPD director Senior Supt. Napoleon Castro said the two suspects have been responsible for gypping thousands of people, particularly public servants investing their hard-earned money on ICS.
Castro, likewise, expressed gratitude to the concerned citizen, whose assistance through the timely report on the presence of the suspects, proved valuable in the apprehension of the swindlers.
Prior to their arrest, the two suspects were spotted by one of their victims in front of a bank along General Romulo St. in Araneta, Cubao at 3 in the afternoon.
After being informed about the suspects, policemen from CPD-Station 7 immediately responded and served a warrant of arrest issued by Davao City Regional Trial Court-Branch 10 Judge Augusto Nueva.
Aside from being implicated in the large-scale pyramid scam, Mirasol is facing charges of grave threats and usurpation of authority for an incident where he introduced himself as a policeman and poked a 9mm pistol at a certain Pedro Constantino.
Police said the arrest of the suspects should serve as a warning to other lawless elements that the police mean business and that the citizenry is no longer willing to be victimized by them.
