Karen Davila does 'Simpleng Hiling'
THE drama of life meets the beating heart of public service when ABS-CBN Current Affairs presents Karen Davila in Simpleng Hiling, its newest Saturday afternoon program beginning this Saturday, November 8 at 4:00 p.m.
As the anchor and host of two of ABS-CBN's most prestigious shows, the late-evening news broadcast Insider and The Correspondents, it is Karen Davila's unique sensibilities that differentiate Simpleng Hiling from other public service shows.
A cross between an in-depth magazine show and a public affairs program, Simpleng Hiling will test Karen's skills as an investigative reporter, as she takes a comprehensive look into the lives of the ordinary and downtrodden in order to find out the deeper stories behind the wishes and dreams they want to be fulfilled by the show.
Simpleng Hiling aspires to transform tear-jerking stories into inspirational changes every week, a weekly source of moving stories changed by hope, charity, and determination.
"The new program is part of ABS-CBN's continuing efforts to provide new ways of extending public service to its loyal viewers in line with its commitment to be in service to the Filipino," explained Jake Maderazo, ABS-CBN VP for News Operations.
But beyond the simple giving of gifts, Simpleng Hiling dedicates itself to changing the lives of those it touches, helping them help themselves move on to a better life and a better future above and beyond simple material needs.
In essence, Simpleng Hiling positions itself to become Philippine television's first life-makeover television show, coaching its guests on the changes they can make to make their lives better.
There is no better illustration of the goals mentioned above than Simpleng Hiling's emotional pilot episode, which brings us the story of Sheila, a housemaid in search of the family she lost. At 14, she gave birth to her first child by her lover, a married man. After giving birth to her third child by the same man, she gave up her children in order to give them a better life.
Now all she wants for Christmas is the chance to hug her estranged family, but can she achieve her simple dream?
Karen Davila hosts ABS-CBN's newest public affairs show Simpleng Hiling, which makes its premiere this Saturday, November 8 at 4:00 p.m.
Simpleng Hiling will be followed by Berks in its new timeslot from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and then followed by the search for the new ABS-CBN superstar in Star in a Million at 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
