DOT opens best of Cagayan Valley region in WOW Hilaga
By Miko Santos

Tourism Secretary Richard Gordon opened on Sunday the "Kappianan Festival - best of Cagayan Valley" at the newly renovated WOW Hilaga (formerly Paskuhan Village) at San Fernando, Pampanga.

"The WOW Hilaga regional showcase is a good vehicle for the people to start talking about the good things in the Philippines and not just the problems that had been besetting the Filipino for years," said Gordon.

Gordon said: " We must change the perception about our country and start talking nice things about us if we want to improve our economy."

Gordon added that the activities inside WOW Hilaga are in line with the
WOW Philippines campaign and have continued to generate many social and economic opportunities for the less privileged people, marginal farmers and backyard peddlers from far-flung communities in the region.

The Kappianan Festival, which runs from November 9 to December 3, would offer a bird's eye view of the various tourism attractions and other cultural and historical masterpieces in the Cagayan Valley region to local tourists and students.

DOT region 2 Director Blessida Diwa said the term "Kappianan" is an Ibanag term which means the "best," to describe the exhibit.

The festival would showcase the best of Cagayan Valley, including cuisine, trade products, history and culture.

Street dancing and production numbers of cultural dances and rituals would be performed daily around the WOW Hilaga complex and inside the auditorium at the heart of the theme park.
