Armed men rob Parañaque Unionbank branch
By Miko Santos

FIVE unidentified robbers broke into the Unionbank branch along Quirino Avenue, La Huerta in Parañaque City Monday afternoon and escaped with an undetermined amount of cash.

Senior Supt. Roland Estilles, Parañaque police director, said Unionbank officials have not determined the amount of money stolen by the five robbers, who were armed with .45 caliber pistols.

Estilles said no one was hurt during the robbery, which occurred at about 1:50 p.m.

He added that the robbers only managed to get the money inside the tellers' drawers but not from the vault, which they failed to open.

Estilles said two of the robbers escaped toward La Huerta area while the other three fled to Baclaran.

Estilles said the robbers arrived one by one and disarmed security guard Robert Sangco when the culprits were all inside.

Estilles added that Sangco positively identified one of the robbers as having allegedly participated in the robbery of another Unionbank branch in Parañaque last September.
