Janjalani spotted in Sultan Kudarat
By Miko Santos

THE military said Tuesday that residents of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat recently sighted Abu Sayyaf leader Khadaffy Janjalani in the area.

Lt. Col. Fredesvindo Covarrubias, commander of the Army's 4th Civil Relation Group, said he believes that Janjalani will not stay long in one area since the bandits do not maintain camps so as to evade arrest.

Covarrubias said it is possible that Janjalani's men were involved in a recent encounter between a group of armed men and troops of the 603rd Brigade in Palimbang.

Meanwhile, Defense Sec. Eduardo Ermita confirmed intelligence reports that 31 JI Indonesian members were training with members of the separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Mindanao.

The MILF, which has been waging a 25-year rebellion in Mindanao, has denied the report and said it was committed to resuming peace talks with the government.
