Friction within the opposition continues

TENSION still persists within the United Opposition.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson said the Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KNP) is a non-existent party that cannot field a presidential candidate.

Lacson also said Sen. Edgardo Angara, chairman of the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP), has no basis in saying that movie actor Fernando Poe Jr. is the standard-bearer of the KNP since the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has not yet decided whether to grant the petition of KNP asking for recognition as a political party.

He also added that Angara cannot just ignore the group of Lacson because they are legitimate members of the LDP.

Angara earlier said Lacson is an independent presidential candidate because he would not be endorsed by the LDP since the party has entered into a coalition.

But Lacson pointed out that Poe is also an independent candidate because he is not yet a member of any political party and he has not yet accepted the nomination of the KNP.

On the other hand, Lacson is still hopeful that the conflict within the opposition would be settled through a dialogue between him and Poe, and this time, the agenda should be made clear first. JPM
