* Trader from Cebu dies while watching horror movie inside motel

A TAIWANESE national was killed after he tried to fight off robbers on a passenger jeep in Manila before dawn Thursday, the city's police chief said.

Western Police District chief Pedro Bulaong said the jeepney taken by the victim was plying along M.H. del Pilar Street at around 5 a.m. when unidentified men declared a holdup

Bulaong identified the victim as Peter Yang, 35, a resident of M.H. del
Pilar, Malate.

Yang resisted the robbers prompting the robbers to shoot him.

He was declared dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Maynila.

"We are hunting down the perpetrators," Bulaong said.

Meanwhile, a 60-year-old man died while watching a horror movie with his girlfriend inside a motel in Malate, Manila.

Police said Geronimo Yu, trader from Cebu City, was already dead when brought to the Ospital ng Maynila after suffering a heart attack.

Investigation conducted by SPO1 David Tuazon of the Western Police District-Homicide Section said the incident took place at around 12 a.m. Wednesday inside Anito Lodge in Malate.

Prior to the incident, Tuazon reported that Yu and his 20-year-old partner checked-in for a three-hour stay.

Police said the two were ushered into Room 224, where the victim took a bath and later watched the horror movie "The Haunted."

Minutes later, the girl said the victim started to tremble and had difficulty breathing.

She told police that she tried to revive the victim but failed, prompting her to call for assistance from the room boys.

The victim was immediately taken to the hospital but doctors failed to save him.
