Regional LDP leaders support Angara

FIFTEEN of 16 regional chairmen of the opposition Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) expressed support Monday to Sen. Edgardo Angara as LDP president.

A resolution signed by the regional LDP head was shown in a press conference of the LDP "to prove that 99 percent of the LDP is behind Angara as they pushed for unity of the party for a common goal to wrest power in the next elections."

The resolution was read by LDP spokesperson Miguel Romero.

The regional LDP heads also supported the decision of the party's leadership to coalesce with other opposition groups under the Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KNP) and they also back the nomination of movie actor Fernando Poe Jr. as standard-bearer of the coalition.

Poe accepted the nomination Monday.

They also said they will not tolerate any act that would divide or sow chaos in the LDP.

A renegade group of the LDP endorsing the presidential bid of Sen. Panfilo Lacson earlier sought the expulsion of Angara as LDP president "for committing acts inimical to the party." JPM
