Black Eyed Peas gets gold

For the first time in the Philippines, the internationally acclaimed rap group Black Eyed Peas earned their first gold record for their debut album Elephunk, which is being released here by Universal Music Philippines.

The said album contains three of the biggest hits in 2003 – Where Is The Love, APL Song and Shut Up. These songs topped the weekly countdowns of the most popular FM stations in the metropolis.

In Magic 89.9’s yearend countdown, Where Is The Love was picked as the listener’s number one choice. Another track, Shut Up, reached number 15 in Magic 89.9’s final countdown.

The said song remained in the weekly countdown for nine straight weeks. It climbed to the number 2 spot when it was first released on radio.

In addition, the Black Eyed Peas also won major honors in Magic 89.9’s Early Returns Yearend Awards, among these, the Best Duo/Group and Best Collaboration for Whenever I Say Your Name with Sting and Mary J. Blige.

The carrier song Where Is The Love was chosen Song of the Year at the yearend countdown of the said station.
