CINEMA One brings gives a television rebirth to overlooked movies that matter all throughout the ninth month of the year as it presents its offerings for September.
Superstars crowd "Sunday Cine Premiere" every Sunday night at 8 p.m., starting with Robin Padilla, who rules the prison cells in "Hari ng Selda" on September 5. Then Judy Ann Santos becomes the queen of hearts in "Dito Sa Puso Ko" on September 12. Watch John Prats and Heart Evangelista fall in love along with teleserye sweethearts John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo in the twinbill "My First Romance" on September 19. Finally, Eric Quizon and Carmina Villaroel bring edge-of-your-seat thrills in "Sumigaw Ka Hanggang Gusto Mo' on September 28.
Classic gems of Philippine contemporary cinema are on display on "Sabado Super Sine" all Saturdays of the month at 8:30 p.m. On September 4, premier actors Christopher de Leon and Hilda Koronel choose between emotions and revenge in "Kapag Puso'y Sinugatan". Edu Manzano loves two women in "Hati Tayo sa Magdamag" on September 11. Independent ladies make themselves heard in "Working Girls Part II" on September 18. And Eddie Garcia goes comedy in "Matalino Man ang Matsing" on September 25.
Hunky actor Jericho Rosales is "Cinema One's Star of the Month" in September. The 25-year old leading man takes over "Romance Central" every Sunday at 6 p.m. Jericho's movies spotlighted this month include "Ngayong Nandito Ka" on September 5, "Trip" on September 12, "Forevermore" on September 19 and "Noon at Ngayon" on Septmber 26. Jericho's supporting turns take center stage in "Drama Studio" on the last week of September from Monday to Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The chosen films include the ensemble pieces "Tanging Yaman" on September 27, "Bagong Buwan" on September 28, "Wansapanataym" on September 29 and "Magandang Hatinggabi" on September 30.
A versatile actor equally at home playing villains, corporate big wigs and emotionally exhausted fathers, and a remarkable hosting talent, to boot, Edu Manzano is one of Philippine showbiz's true Renaissance Men. "Cinema One" takes a retrospective of his career on "Monday Drama" at 9 p.m. The Monday evening showcase for Edu's talent includes 'Kailan Tama Ang Mali" with Elizabeth Oropesa on September 6, "Kapag Puso'y Sinugatan" on September 13 with Hilda Koronel, "Alabok Sa Ulap" with Dina Bonnevie on September 20 and 'Hati Tayo Sa Magdamag" with Tetchie Agbayani on September 27.
Andrew E's irresistible brand of comedy will make your "Tuesday Comedy" nights every 9 p.m. The hilarity starts off with "S2PID Love" on September 7 with Maui Taylor. Next he shares top screen billing with megastar Sharon Cuneta in "Megamol" on September 14. He topbills "Andrew Ford Medina" on September 21 and then bares skin (whether you like it or not) in 'Burles King Daw O" on September 28.
"Cinema One" salutes the classics of visionary filmmaker Celso Ad Castillo on "Wednesday Winners" at 9:15 p.m. "Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa 2" with former beauty queen and actress Ruffa Gutierrez opens the retrospective on September 1. Gary Estrada becomes smitten with Dina Bonnevie in the acclaimed remake of "Tag-Ulan, Tag-Araw" on September 8. Vilma Santos and Bembol Roco head the cast of "Pagputi ng Uwak, Pag-Itim ng Tagak" on September 15. "Kapag Iginuhit ang Hatol ng Puso" features Dina Bonnevie and Monique Wilson on Septemer 22. Finally, the original "Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa" staring Gloria Diaz will air on September 29.
More filmmaker salutes follow in "Drama Studio" every 4:30 p.m. with the films of Emmanuel H. Borlaza and Ishmael Bernal set to unspool. Of Borlaza's works, "Cinema One" will feature "Tayo Na Sa Dilim" on September 6, "Kahit Wala Ka Na" on September 7, "Blusang Itim" on September 8, 'Kung Bakit May Ulap ang Mukha ng Buwan" on September 9 and "Bituing Walang Ningning" on September 10. The Bernal masterworks include "Broken Marriage" on September 20, "Hinugot sa Langit" on September 21, 'Nagbabagang Luha" on September 22, "El Vibora" on September 23 and "Working Girls 2" on September 24.
Flights of fancy featuring the brightest stars are on hand for "Thursday Fantasy" every 9 p.m. "Ang TV the Movie" stars Jolina Magdangal, Tirso Cruz III, Patrick Garcia, Paolo Contis, Camille Pratts and Angelica Panganiban on September 2. Dolphy becomes the lovable tikbalang who changes the lives of humans Richard Gomez and Janice de Belen in the classic "Once Upon a Time" on September 9. Christopher de Leon and Tetchie Agbayani confront their foes and each other in "Kamakalawa" on September 16. Janno Gibbs and LJ Moreno head for another epic adventure in "Pedro Penduko 2". And Ramon Revilla and Isabel Lopez check out "Mahiwagang Daigdig ni Elias Paniki" on September 30.
Action movie director Toto Natividad's fast-paced hits are on display in "Friday Action" every 9 p.m. Rudy Fernandez becomes Panfilo Lacson in "The Ping Lacson Story" on September 3. Cesar Montano becomes a "War Freak" on September 10. Joko Diaz embodies the life of "Anak ni Boy Negro" on September 17. And Rudy Fernandez is unbeatable because he is "Palaban" on September 24.
