PBA teams hold campus tour

AS THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) prepares for the opening of its 2004-2005 season, the league's ball clubs continue reaching out to its fans that includes going to the colleges and universities in the metropolis.

In the next few days, PBA teams will visit various colleges and universities and play pickup games against the host schools' team that will highlight the two-week Burlington-PBA campus tour.

The tour's kick-off point was the Rizal Technological University (RTU) gym in Pasig City where the Purefoods Hotdogs played against the RTU Baboons last Tuesday afternoon.

"The campus tour is our simple way of reaching out and saying thank you to our loyal fans, particularly the youth," said PBA Commissioner Noli Eala.

"It is our fervent hope that playing against their idols will inspire the young players who aspire and dream to someday make it to the PBA," he added.

Coach Norman Black will also conduct a 45-minute Burlington basketball fun clinic capping with dribbling, jump shot and passing relay contests.

The PBA teams will also visit Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), New Era University (NEU), University of Sto. Tomas (UST), Philippine Christian University (PCU), Adamson University (AdU), San Sebastian College (SSC) and the Lyceum.

The Shell Turbochargers will take on the EAC Generals Thursday and the Sta. Lucia Realtors go up against the NEU Hunters Friday. The San Miguel Beer players test the mettle of the UST Tigers on September 1.

It's FedEx Express's turn against the PCU Dolphins on September 2, the Alaska Aces take on the Adamson Falcons on September 7 while the Barangay Ginebra
Kings play the San Sebastian Stags on September 9. The Coca-Cola Tigers go up against the Lyceum Pirates on September 10.

Because of a previous commitment, Talk N Text and Red Bull's trips have been re-scheduled.
