Police, military on alert for terror attack

PRESIDENTIAL spokesman Ignacio Bunye Wednesday said the police and military are both on alert for possible terrorist attacks in the country.

Bunye made the assurance after the US Government issued another travel warning against traveling to Manila claiming that "terrorist threats to Americans in the Philippines remains high".

The US advised its nationals to exercise caution and to maintain heightened security awareness as known terrorist groups continues to operate in the Philippines.

Bunye reiterated that the Philippines has long been fighting terrorists and have scored a lot in its campaign, particularly against the local terrorist group, Abu Sayyaf.

He added that Abu Sayyaf had been reduced and their remaining members continue to be on the run with the continued campaign against them. (JMR)
