Actor acquitted of drug raps
THE Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Wednesday cleared actor William Martinez of charges of drug use and possession filed against him by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Judge Eleuterio Guerrero exonerated Martinez after the PDEA failed to build up evidence against the actor.
Salvador Panelo, Martinez's lawyers, among the reasons why the court cleared his client of the drug charges is that Martinez tested negative in drug tests conducted five times.
Martinez was arrested as he was about to board a plane bound for Dipolog City after tooter used to inhale shabu was found in his possession during a body search at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Centennial Terminal.
Martinez denied owing the item as he claimed that could have been placed in the pocket of his trousers by a friend, whom he refused to identify. (JFF)
