Actress snubs libel arraignment before Makati court
* Arrest warrant issued v. Rosanna Roces
ACTRESS Rosanna Roces is now a fugitive after she jumped bail and was a no-show during her arraignment before a Makati court Tuesday for libel.
A bench warrant for her immediate arrest was issued by the Makati Regional trial Court (RTC) Branch 66 under Judge Ricardo B. Rosario after Roces failed to attend her arraignment for a P10 million libel suit filed against her by erstwhile business partner, dermatologist Dr. Victoria "Vicky" Belo.
The libel was filed last October after Roces refused to retract statements she allegedly made casting doubts on Belo's medical training.
A P 25 million counter-suit against Belo was subsequently filed by Roces.
A P20,000 bail bond originally posted by Roces to ensure her presence in court was likewise ordered forfeited by the court.
It is Roces's latest brush with the same court after she came late for her original schedule for arraignment. At the time, Roces said she had made love to her husband until 3 a.m., which resulted in her waking up late.
The actress and her husband broke up after a few months since then and she became a grandmother recently following the birth of her grandchild by her 15-year-old daughter Grace. (BBP)
