School offers 50% cut in tuition

A 50-percent tuition discount awaits the first 500 freshmen who will enroll at Feati University for the first semester of school year 2005-2006. Early birds who enlist from April 4 to May 4 may enjoy the slashed rates for all courses -Engineering, Maritime Education, Architecture, Fine Arts, Business, Sciences and Education.

"We are bringing quality and affordable education to everyone," said Margaret Araneta Segovia, Feati chief finance and administrative officer. To avail of the 50 percent tuition discount, applicants must pass the Feati College Admission Test (FCAT). Applicants should also bring their high school card (form 138), certificate of good moral character, three 2 x 2 pictures with name tag, and birth certificate. The school administers the FCAT Mondays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Results are issued on the same day.

Other scholarship grants Feati is offering are: the Doņa Victoria Araneta Scholarship for the female who tops the scholarship exam and panel interview (free tuition, 100 percent discount on miscellaneous and laboratory fees, and a yearly stipend of P4,500); and the Don Salvador Araneta Scholarship for 40 applicants who top the scholarship exam and panel interview (free tuition and P4,500 credit on miscellaneous and laboratory fees plus a P5,000 yearly stipend from Segovia for the ten applicants with the highest scores). Free tuition and P4,000 credit on miscellaneous and laboratory fees await high school valedictorians. Salutatorians will receive a 50 percent tuition discount plus P2,000 credit on miscellaneous and laboratory fees.

Musically inclined students, on the other hand, may join the choir to obtain a 50 percent tuition discount. Members of the Feati Brass Band and of the men's basketball and volleyball teams will receive free tuition as well as a 100 percent discount on miscellaneous and laboratory fees.

As Feati goes into its sixth decade, the school's curriculum has been upgraded, offering students a broader range of subjects. Similarly, 70 percent of the university's faculty roster are new and of high repute. Modernized buildings sport glass and steel with landscaped outdoor spaces. Cutting-edge laboratories and simulators provide students with an environment conducive to learning. The school also has incorporated into its curriculum the two most sought-after qualifications of every job applicant: English proficiency and information technology (IT) literacy.

"We would like to make our students the employees of choice by companies," Segovia said. A GradSPrep Program has been developed to prepare students for immediate employment after graduation in their chosen professions, training them to handle job application exams and interviews.
