Investigators are still searching for a third missing person.

Fire gutted Eliong Commercial situated at 589 Quintin Paredes Street in Binondo. The blaze broke out at 2:37 a.m. Wednesday and lasted for more than 15 hours.

The establishment is owned by the Chua family.

The children of the Chua couple - Edralin, 28, Elizarde, 25, and Erica, 15 - and two of their helpers died in the fire. Those injured were Luisita Seryales and Myrna Tesoro, who were also helpers of the Chua family.

Seryales sustained third degree burns on her body while Tesoro sustained lacerations on both feet.

The first and second floors of the four-storey was utilized as a store and warehouse for construction materials while the third and fourth floors were the living quarters of the victims.

Senior Inspector Adan Bithao, investigation chief of the Manila Fire Office, said they had a hard time containing the fire because of the impenetrable grills at the windows and doors of the building.

Bithao said they are still determining the cause of fire that started at the building's ground floor. (JFF)
